Common Safety Orientation Overview

Our Courses Registration

The Common Safety Orientation (CSO) is the most recent pre-site access requirement for all new contract employees at participating work sites. PLEASE REMEMBER: This training requirement only applies to new employees. If you already have proof of OSSA Regional Orientation (ORO), CSTS-09 certification, or OSSA Basic Safety Orientation (BSO), you may be able to continue using the site. Check with your website to confirm their needs.

Common Safety Orientation lasts roughly 4 hours. It is an instructor-led training designed to replace the OSSA Regional Orientation (ORO), CSTS-09, and OSSA Basic Safety Orientation (BSO) programmes as pre-site access requirements for the four OSSA/ESC member sites.

After completing the Common Safety Orientation Programme, an employee will be ready to present them. The Common Safety Orientation (CSO) is intended for new workers in the oil and gas industry. With content driven and endorsed by industry, the CSO provides consistent safety messaging that clearly explains safe work practices and eliminates the need for redundant general orientation training.
